Here is the tip for installing the new tailcap and clip onto the LF3XT (CR123A):

Use the acrylic tool provided to remove the existing LF3XT tailcap.
Install the new tailcap - without the clip and o-ring.
Use the acrylic tool to tighten the tailcap, then loosen the tailcap and tighten again. Repeat this
a few times. You may see some debris fell off from the threads on the inner tube - clean them
out.
Install the O-ring and the clip onto the tailcap. Make sure the clip aligns with the two small
indents in the tailcap. It may be easier to fit the cap onto the tailcap after you have partially
engaged the tailcap thread into the tube.
Using the acrylic tool, tighten the new tailcap until there is no gap between the tailcap and
body. If there is a gap, the tailcap switch will not work because the signal path is not complete.
To help prevent the clip from scratching the tube while twisting the tailcap, you may consider
putting a thin piece of cardboard or paper in between the clip and the tube to avoid any
scratches during the installation

The steps 2 & 3 are to help the cap twist smoothly.

Warning: Please do not use 2x 14500 Li-ion batteries in the 2AA Tube - they will destroy the driver
circuit of the LF3XT. Please use: 2x Alkaline AA, 2x NiMH AA, or 2x Li AA (L91 compatible) batteries in
the 2AA tube..
